Our Mission and Ministries

Our Mission

The youth ministry wants all youth to know the God by whom they are loved, to see themselves and all things beneath the cross, and to be disciples of Jesus Christ.

Our Ministries

Small Groups

We consider small groups a vital part of our program. In small group Bible studies, students have an opportunity to study the Bible intensively and build community in a smaller, more intimate setting. The youth directors lead several Bible studies, while excellent volunteers also lead groups. Our program attempts to provide a Bible study for young men and young women in each grade level, and also provide small groups for different schools, such as our private school small group and Advent Episcopal School Bible Club.

EYC Program

The EYC (Episcopal Youth Community) program provides a variety of fellowship opportunities for students. Some of these opportunities involve service, worship, teaching, and fun stuff like laser tag, go-carts, hiking, dinners, desserts, etc. EYC hosts two major events each semester for both the Jr. High and Sr. High. We also have EYC programs during the summer and on weekends, such as our spring paintball battle, our Six Flags trips, the Advent Bowl, and Movie Nights. The overall purpose of the EYC portion of our program is to create a place of fellowship and friendship throughout the ministry.

Missions

Perhaps the strongest component of the Youth Ministry is our missions program.  These trips include service to the poor, Bible study, teaching, fellowship, and worship.  Senior High students won’t want to miss our trip to Rescue Atlanta Church in Atlanta, GA every MLK weekend, and our Junior HIgh students won’t want to miss our In-Town Mission Trip to Fairfield, AL each President’s Day Weekend!  We also offer summer mission trips for both Junior and Senior High which vary from year to year.  We hope that  every student will have the opportunity to participate in at least one mission trip during their time in our program.

The Revolution Band

Advent Youth has a band comprised of high school students. The band plays every Sunday at Below Deck, our Senior High Sunday school ministry. If you love to play music, please let us know!

Personal Relationships and Pastoral Guidance

The backbone of our program is personal relationships with students. If a student does not wish to participate in any of our organized programs, we are still always interested in encouraging, guiding, advising, and listening to students.
