The 5 O'clock Band
Their occupations range from investment manager to child psychiatrist, with three attorneys, a community activist, a non-profit professional, and a full-time musician. The backgrounds of the individual band members are as varied as they are interesting. The roster of talent includes (standing-left to right): Dwight Williams, Bill Marshall, Sims Crawford, Eddie Finn, Leif Bondarenko; (seated -left to right): Clay McKinney, Leigh Collins, Mallie Lynn, Melanie Rodgers, Sharon Benefield, George Newton. Some have played in well-known Alabama bands such as "Locust Fork" and "Roadside Attraction."
The band recorded their first CD at Boutwell Studios entitled, "Sometimes He Calls." Their second CD "Lift Him Up" was released at Easter 2005. Their most recent CD, released in April 2010, is "In the Hands of the Maker". These great CDs are available at the Episcopal Book Store, and proceeds from CD sales benefit outreach projects of the Church of the Advent. You can sample three MP3 clips from "In the Hands of the Maker" at the bottom of this page.

The 5 O'clock Band has performed many times at parishes around the Diocese, at Camp McDowell events, and at the Renewal Conferences at Kanuga. For more information about the band, please email Sharon@cathedraladvent.com.
You are cordially invited to join these musicians in a wonderful, casual, and moving worship opportunity every Sunday at 5 o'clock at the Cathedral Church of the Advent. Please come, and bring your family and friends.
