College and Early 20s
Our college and post-college ministries provide opportunities for gospel-growth and Christian fellowship. We welcome college students from around Birmingham into our family of faith, where they may find opportunities for growth and friendship. Our Arc Fellows ministry gathers recent college graduates into intentional community for fellowship, Bible study, and service. Contact YoungAdults@CathedralAdvent.com for more information.
Men, women, and couples in their 20s and early 30s are always welcome at the Advent and may join our Young Adults community for regular fellowship and study, gathering once a month for dinner and teaching by Advent clergy, staff, or a special guest, and periodically for special events.
The Advent’s Women’s Ministry brings together groups of all ages regularly for Bible study, prayer, service, and fellowship in small and large group gatherings. Spring and fall luncheons and coffees include guest speakers from within the Advent, from the greater Birmingham area, and occasionally from around the United States and the globe. A popular annual retreat at Lake Martin in August gives women a chance for renewal and restoration as they relax into God’s word in the company of sisters-in-Christ.
Our group of active older adults meets the Third Thursday of each month and twice a year for Friday Feast gatherings. Third Thursdays feature messages from guest speakers, while Friday Feasts include lunch at various Birmingham restaurants. Email Stella@CathedralAdvent.com for details and a schedule for this ministry.
The Forum is a monthly fellowship and discussion program that takes place monthly after our 5:00 p.m. service, building a sense of community and confidence in our Lord Jesus Christ. Each discussion aims to be very practical. Dinner is served, and families with children are welcome to attend. Email Anita@CathedralAdvent.com with questions.
In the Diocese of Alabama, Cursillo ministry experiences begin with a three–day weekend retreat at Camp McDowell. During these days, lay people and clergy from across the diocese share their experiences on a variety of topics related to the love God shows us in the grace of his gospel. Several retreat weekends are offered throughout the year. Adventers interested in learning more may email our Parish Lay Rector Marilyn Dixon at LayRector@CathedralAdvent.com.
