The difficulty of living as a Christian in a world of moralistic pluralism is a central theme in scripture, and it underlies Christ’s emphasis on the necessity for an intimate Christian community. The Advent’s small group program directly addresses this. I am currently a part of two small groups. One focuses on the study and discussion of scripture. The other is a group that actively prays for each other, our families, our church, and our community. In both, I witness lives directed and transformed by the Holy Spirit. I have come to know and love people I would likely have not met, creating a deeper connection within the Advent. Being involved with small groups has given me the experience of what it is to live in a Christian community, a life grounded in and guided by eternal truth.
