Advent Welcomes Adam Young

Dear Parish Family:

I write to share exciting news of a new addition to our clergy team. This summer, the Reverend Adam Young will join our team serving as Canon Missioner. Adam’s demonstrated heart for the gospel will help strengthen our congregation and help us in going beyond ourselves as well.

Adam is a deeply faithful, gracious, and gifted minister, and his ministry experience will enrich our common witness. He has worked with at-risk urban youth, in community development, and to establish urban partnerships in New Orleans. Adam has served as a youth minister, rector of a church, ministry to men, and as a missioner to college students at the University of Florida, most recently as the Vicar of the Chapel of the Incarnation in Gainesville, Florida. You may remember Adam fondly from his time with us as a Curate from 2015-2016. Adam served with us as he was transitioning into ordained ministry in the Episcopal Church.

Adam did not grow up in the Christian faith, and his act of high-school rebellion was to become a Christian through the ministry of Young Life. Adam would serve as a Young Life leader while at the University of Georgia, and it was there that he met his wife, Beth. Beth and Adam were married in 2004, and they have three children: Isaac (entering 10th grade), Aiden (7th), and Rosie (5th).

Please join me in giving thanks for God’s amazing provision for our community, and pray earnestly for Adam, Beth, and their children as they make their transition to Birmingham.

The Lord be with you,
