I am not so interested in the political implications of what is being said here, but the cultural shift we find ourselves in. This kind of thinking is not just in politics, but in our workplaces, homes, and even churches. That is, the understanding that certain views are so abhorrent (in this case a traditional understanding of marriage) that they must be pulled up by the root. Like, as the article points out, the Allies did with Germany and Japan after World War II.
