Living Life Together Through Small Groups

We recently moved from Florida to Alabama, and after looking at one or two churches we decided to make the Advent our church home and family. But for it to feel like a family something was missing, and that was the friendship and community of fellow believers in a home group setting. We had belonged to a home group back in Florida and had experienced the closeness of Christian friendship, so we knew it was important for us to become part of a home group here in Birmingham.
So, we were excited when Fontaine Pope pointed us to a small group. The leaders, Tom and Suzan Armstrong and Bob and Barbara Schuler, made us very welcome despite our strange accent (we are both from England), and very quickly we were experiencing that Christian friendship that we had in Florida. It has been such a blessing to gather each week with new friends in Christ, where we can study God’s word and pray for one another, share in our joys and sorrows, and strengthen our faith and understanding of God’s word together.
Life is richer spiritually and also fun socially when we meet with one another. By joining a small group, we feel more connected with our new church.
