The Cathedral Choir will sing Choral Evensong for Lent on Thursday, March 20 at 5:30 p.m. in the Nave. Evensong, a sung version of the Evening Prayer service, is drawn almost entirely from the Bible. Among the music to be sung will be the Magnificat by Arvo Pärt, and the Nunc Dimittis by Gustav Holst, the Preces and Responses by Thomas Tomkins, and Samuel Barber’s setting of the Agnus Dei, using the music of his famous Adagio for Strings. All are invited to come and worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness, and find rest in the gospel message.
