Giving FAQs

Integrity is a key value of our church in all areas, particularly when it comes to financial giving. Your contributions are private, your information is protected, and the Advent commits to ongoing ethical and stewardship accountability through annual financial audits.

The Advent follows the highest possible financial accountability standards. We maintain a dedicated finance team and our accounts are audited annually by a professional CPA firm. Our lay leader leadership (the Vestry) oversees our budget’s formation as well as our expenditures.

Your personal financial information is securely stored in our database. Only the members of our financial staff have access to your giving record.

Tell him: 

  • stock fund or name
  • number of shares
  • purpose of your donation
  • the Advent brokerage account used

If the Advent does not have this information, you may not receive proper credit for your gift. 

Members of the Cathedral Church of the Advent complete pledge cards, typically during the fall. We call this our stewardship season. These pledges help shape our budget for the next calendar year and equip the Advent for gospel-ministry in Birmingham and around the world. 

After completing a pledge card, members may give in several ways: online, by placing cash or a check into the offering plate during any of our services, by donating stocks, or by sending a check to Cathedral Church of the Advent, Attn: Finance Office, 2017 Sixth Avenue North, Birmingham, Alabama 35203. When giving online or by check, please indicate in the memo box that your giving amount should be applied to your pledge.

It is not necessary to have a pledge card on file to begin supporting the Advent through recurring giving. All contributions are welcome online and in our offering plates at any time.

The only people who have access to your giving history work in our finance office. This team keeps your giving history secure in our database. If you’d like a copy of your giving history for any reason at any time, contact Finance@CathedralAdvent.com.

Paper financial statements are mailed once every quarter or you may request that we send your statements by email instead. Please contact Finance@CathedralAdvent.com to request statements by email.

The Advent offers several giving options. You may place cash or a check into the offering plate during any worship service. You may also give online, by stock donation, or by mailing a check to Cathedral Church of the Advent, Attn: Finance Office, 2017 Sixth Avenue North, Birmingham, Alabama 35203.

You may designate a destination for your contribution by indicating a specific ministry fund in the memo line of a check or by selecting from the dropdown list of ministries on our online giving form. If you’d like to designate a destination for a cash contribution, please use a giving envelope from the pew rack in the Nave or contact Finance@CathedralAdvent.com for assistance.
