For the 113th consecutive year, Lent at the Advent will include gospel-centered sermons delivered by guest preachers, warm meals provided by loving volunteers, and gracious fellowship with friends around tables.
Since 1908, thousands have gathered to hear the Word preached in a way that enlivens, confronts, encourages, and clarifies. The emphasis we place at the Advent on preaching “Christ and him crucified” – nothing other than the gospel of God’s love for sinners – is in full focus during Lent. Sermons begin at 12:05 p.m. in the Nave (click here for driving directions).
Lenten Lunches are typically served daily between 12:05 and 1:00 p.m. and the series was included in 2019 and 2020 on AL.com’s list of Birmingham’s food festivals.
The Lenten season brings many opportunities for connection with the Advent; it is impossible to say how many friendships have been formed and strengthened through the years. We hope you will join us to fill up on the hope offered by the gospel preached each day during the week and by the lunches served by loving hands.
Proceeds from the 2020 Lenten Lunches will support the ministry of Maranathan Academy.
