March 6, 2019 is Ash Wednesday…
For the 112th consecutive year, Lent at the Advent means preaching, eating, and fellowship. Since 1908, thousands have gathered to hear the Word preached in a way that enlivens, confronts, encourages, and clarifies. The emphasis we place on preaching “Christ and him crucified” – nothing other than the gospel of God’s love for sinners – is in full focus during lent.
The lunches (and desserts!) create so many opportunities for connections; it is impossible to say how many friendships have been formed and strengthened during the making and enjoying of the lunches. We hope you can “taste and see” that this is true.
For the 2018 Lenten Lunches, we operated with lead chairs for each weekday, and specialized leaders for other tasks:
Mondays: Janice Pitts
Tuesdays: Jean Oliver
Wednesdays: Katie Patrick
Thursdays: Liz Lee
Fridays: Tanya Cooper
Ordering: Lyn Lanier
Publicity: Kelley Norwood
Proceeds from the 2018 Lenten Lunches went to support Foundations Early Learning and Family Center.
