The Advent is grateful to announce that Tara Davis has accepted the call to serve as the church’s next Director of Children’s Ministries and will succeed Elizabeth Wilson in the coming school year.
Tara is a native of Birmingham. She attended the University of Georgia, where she majored in early childhood education, and also earned a masters in elementary education from UAB. She has ten years of teaching experience, and has most recently taught for five years at Crestline Elementary School. In 2019, Tara won the Ann Pritchard Award for Excellence in Teaching, a distinction given to the top teacher in the Mountain Brook School System. She was also named Teacher of the Year at her school the same year.
Besides her excellent knowledge in relating to and instructing children, we are most excited about Tara’s heart for sharing the gospel with young people. During the interview process, Tara expressed a deep love for Christ and a passion for children knowing Him and his grace as early as possible.
Tara is married to Kyle, and they have two children, Reagan (2) and Hudson (5). Tara’s sister, Amanda Thames, presently attends the Advent.
Tara will officially start at the Advent after July 4. Please join us in thanking God for his faithfulness and in praying for Tara’s future ministry at the Advent.
