Our small group reflects the “upper room” in Acts 1:12–14 to which the disciples repaired after the ascension of Jesus. There, “all these with one accord were devoting themselves to prayer.”
Like the disciples, we set ourselves apart in an “upper room” – a den, actually — for prayer, for reading and meditation on his word and for fellowship in the Holy Spirit. Corporate worship in church is necessary, and individual prayer or reflection is by grace available at any moment, but in the gospel vibrancy of our small group we see and experience the work of the Holy Spirit, every Wednesday, year after year.
Praise be to God.
