Advent Welcomes Rev. Jay Gardner

Dear Parish Family:
 
I am excited to share news of an addition to our clergy team. Beginning in mid-August, the Reverend Jay Gardner will serve as our Canon Pastor.
 
Some of you may remember that Jay worked with our youth ministry during his time at Beeson Divinity School; was sponsored for ordination from the Advent; and spoke during our Lenten Preaching series this year.
 
Jay is a 2011 graduate of the University of Alabama, Huntsville, with degrees in Music and Philosophy. In 2015, he graduated from Beeson Divinity School and, following continued study at General Theological Seminary, served as an Associate Rector at the Parish of Calvary-St. George in New York City. Most recently, Jay has served as Rector of Grace Episcopal Church in Cullman.
 
During his time at UAH, Jay met his wife, Paige, a teacher by training. They have two children: William and Mary. I am thrilled that their family will be an active and integral part of our parish life. 
 
We are fortunate to add Jay’s gracious, foundational commitment to the ministry of the gospel, his gifts as a preacher and teacher, and his warmth in the care of a congregation. Jay is an excellent complement to the ministers that we are already fortunate to have.
