Registration will open every Monday morning at 9:00am for the upcoming Sunday. We will have two morning services at 9:15am (band led) and 11:15am (choir & organ led).

As we move back into the Nave for in-person worship, we hope you will find this page helpful. Please refer back to FAQ page for updates.

As with many things related to Covid, we are proceeding while also remaining flexible. Please keep watching AdventBirmingham.org/Worship for updates, including situations where we may have to cancel services.

Parents of 3K through third graders should register the rest of their families here first. Please do not include your 3K through third grade children on this registration unless they will be attending the worship service. After you have received confirmation of your registration for one of our services, you can then register your 3K through third graders separately, on the link you will receive from Tara Davis every Monday at 9:00 a.m.

Coat Drive | This Sunday

Coat Drive

2020 is the year of the pivot, so this year our annual Coat Drive will transform into a Drop-Off on Sunday, December 6. All items will be received in the Porte Cochere (or visitor’s parking lot off of Sixth Avenue North) before and after worship services – between 8:45 a.m. and 12:15 p.m.

Please consider bringing the following items:

• Men’s coats (larger sizes appreciated)
• Warm socks
• Underwear
• Jeans

We are so grateful for our partnership with Brother Bryan Mission as they work to disciple men struggling with addiction. Our Coat Drive will help provide cold-weather supplies for these men as a way to bless and encourage them in their journey toward a deeper relationship with the Lord and ongoing sobriety.

We need volunteers on December 6. To help with the Coat Drive, please contact Bethany Rushing (Bethany@CathedralAdvent.com).

Concert Series: The Pilgrim’s Progress: Music of Vaughan Williams

Concert Series: The Pilgrim’s Progress: Music of Vaughan Williams 5

In celebration of the Advent’s parish wide reading of John Bunyan’s The Pilgrim’s Progress, members of our Music Ministry will perform music of Ralph Vaughan Williams inspired by the book. The concert will be presented virtually and streamed on Thursday, November 19, at 7:00 p.m. on AdventBirmingham.org/Live. If you miss the performance, it will be available on our website archive following the event.

From his own opera entitled The Pilgrim’s Progress, Vaughan Williams extracted seven songs to create a song cycle that sets an assortment of texts from Scripture, Bunyan, and others. Cathedral Choir members Kathryne Overturf, mezzo-soprano, and Randall Mayo, bass, will perform six of these songs, accompanied by Frederick Teardo on piano. In addition, the Cathedral Choir will offer a performance of Vaughan Williams’ Valiant-for-truth, a moving choral setting of an excerpt from Bunyan’s The Pilgrim’s Progress.
